hamsIn a different thread there was a discussion of drone communications intended to be resistant to tracking/jamming/natural interference as well as the mode of communications whether infrared, microwave, or just radio (RF). I posted a comment that there exist over-the-counter drones with multiple RF units operating simultaneously and that it might take engineering-level modification to operate on non-RF wavelengths and possibly single sideband (for best readability under difficult conditions) but I don't think engineers per se are required as long as Ukraine has radio amateurs. Those are your quintessential comm mod experts by definition.
The most recent article I found on Ukrainian radio amateurs is that they have been maintainting "radio silence" and I expect that's regarding the usual QSL swapping rag chews--but they're exactly what fits the technical bill in terms of wartime comms and mods. I found an article dated back to 2020, so I know Ukraine has top notch ham operators/technicians out there somewhere.
