Gentle beings,
In light of the impending shutdown of Pluspora following the greatly lamented and highly unexpected demise of @David Thiery, I am migrating my presence to Glasswings. It seems as good a destination as any other, and we all fly on wings of glass — beautiful when the light catches them just right, but so fragile, and they cut us to the bone when they break or are broken by others.

Those of you who know me from Pluspora as @Phil Stracchino may thank or curse, according to your choice, @Doc Edward Morbius for inviting me here.

Greetings and Goodwill to you @Alrekr Jarnhandr❗ I welcome you to Diaspora and I look forward to sharing with you in a long and vibrant social media relationship. You bring some very interesting topics to this group and you can be sure that the group has many interests to share with you. You will be joining with members from across the USA and around the world. So once again, welcome, see you around!!! 🤗 😜 😏
I'm glad I read the above.

I saw that you added me earlier today. I would not have known who you were just from the avatar. The new name threw me off a bit. All's well, though. It's the Internet. You can be whomever/whatever you want to be, Alrekr. Can I just call you "Al" for short? ;)
Lots of other people do so. 😀 I hope I haven't confused the issue too greatly.
(Sometimes it's short for Alrekr, sometimes it's short for Alaric. And sometimes people use Jarn as a shorthand for Jarnhandr, too.)
Interesting... now we can all speculate on whether Phil or Alrekr is the true pseudonym, or possibly, both are. ;)

HAHA! Couldn't have fun like this at the old G+ when/where the movers and shakers at Google tried to outlaw pseudonym usage. It started a war, actually...

The Nymwars

I'm a veteran of that one.
It's .... A SUPERPOSITION! 😀

Seriously though ... Phil is my legal name. But I often actually answer more quickly to Alaric. The 'Ironhand' (or Jarnhandr) surname is more recent, and I mostly use it as a pseudonym when gaming. It makes me happy that my eldest daughter has adopted 'Valkyrie Ironhand' as her gaming handle. Alaric is a Gothic name (notably in the person of King Alaric I of the Visigoths, who famously sacked Rome), and Alrekr Jarnhandr is just Alaric Ironhand reformed into Old Norse.

Aesa hamarr!
Ah... we're all people of many names. ;)
I've used this partuclar nym long enough that I tend to respond to it as well, Usually in the context of seeing its namesake mentioned, occasionally otherwise.
Ya, when I saw that avatar I was pretty darn sure I could call you Phil. 😀
