one may proceed to note that "soviet" refers to a system of workers' councils, called soviets, as was seen in soviet russia (there's some argument about whether the soviets did soviets right, but I ain't touching THAT can of worms) as such, being soviet is not required for being communist, though I wouldn't call china communist.(there ARE articles claiming china is turning away from "get rich first" nonsense to "common prosperity" but idk how much of that is PR bullshit) one may mention the term "state capitalist" (the aforementioned russia critics did in their critcism of soviet russia) that said, both china and the USA have massive wealth gaps and a lot of poverty, so maybe they're more similar than they claim?

I hold similar position when anyone tells me somebody is or is not a true Christian when all that's required to be Christian is self-identification as a believer in Christ.
