Lots of people on Twitter are explaining about why they are taking it so hard. People don't just use it socially, and some people aren't free to meet like-minded people IRL. Plenty of countries still make LGBT lifestyles illegal.

Which is missing some key features, and with people maintaining it as a hobby it's going to be a while before we see enhansements, real content moderation at scale, or other needs to make something a real Twitter replacement.
