#Russia #Ukraine #2014

Back in 2014 I encountered an old Soviet Russian online and for the most part we were discussing forum board software, Simple Machines Forums in particular, and then he asked me questions about Russian law pertaining to how a Ukrainian becomes Russian citizen. This was 'round about the time Crimea became an international interest and I couldn't imagine why he'd be asking me of all people about such a thing. He nonetheless sent me a couple of documents in Russian and I've just now run across them...and under current circumstances I'm very curious as to what they say. I'm posting this post on diasporg for the circulation but I'll be commenting via Outsourced Math for the images. Please stand by for screenshots.
As viewed in Open Office which needs to be taken in chunks if it's to be legible. Top part:
Looks like Outsourced does its own cropping, alas. None of the text to the left or right is missing, though, looks like. Second part coming up.
This is the rest of the main text, but there's a footer to this thing and that's next.
Now, finally, the footer:
This particular Russian also used SMF software for running a spambot operation, getting banned on one site, moving to another site, getting banned on that, etc etc etc etc. but I know of one website host in Turkey where he got kicked off but then got re-instated. His board had an "overground" and an "underground", and as a registered account there had the opportunity to poke around to see what the operations were up to...except I never had access to the underground.

I did have a Babelfish plug-in to my browser at the time (apparently doesn't exist anymore) and was able to translate what Russian posts I could find, and that's how I got introduced to an old Soviet community still trumpeting long-dead glories of workers and whatnot. And that's how I'm aware that Putin is just one man--it's the people who expect Soviet glories from a former KGB guy that are running things.
