I have my #Android Phone set to automatically upload the pictures I take to my #NextCloud account. However I'm quickly running out of the space I'm allocated on the server. Is there any recommendation on getting the #photos to automatically be shrank to a more reasonable file size, either on phone or cloud? @Nextcloud πŸ“±β˜οΈπŸ’» !Nextcloud User Forum !Libranet Support

I don't know about any photo-shrink apps, but what about launching your own appliance to run a private Nextcloud?

@Michael Rupp @Nextcloud πŸ“±β˜οΈπŸ’» !Nextcloud User Forum !Libranet Support I'm not yet skilled enough to do so. This is as far as I got trying to set up my own GNU Social instance a few weeks ago https://r.jimfulner.com

I'm not sure if this would be helpful or not, but I kept my own notes of how to go from nothing to running your own server equipment at https://ubuntu.wnymathguy.com/. My methods are to get through things with very little money.

Also, also, there are a few places that sell pre-built machines. Nextcloud is one of them. https://nextcloud.com/devices/

Hello [email protected] , Interested in reading your notes, but either you don't have SSL certs or your server is down or something. ie link doesn't work. particularly interested in following notes to set up a friendica instance in ubuntu if you are the admin behind wnymathguy friendica.

You can seither set the low resolution in your camera APP. An Android APP to reduce the size is Send Reduced Free (available in the F-Droid store).

I'll check again, but I'm pretty sure I've already set my camera to the lowest resolution Samsung's software allows. These new SmartPhones seem to be all about the megapixles and never about anything that actually matters.

Side note, little is more annoying at work than when validation engineers, not to mention managment that thinks they are important, reporting an error and they include a video of it taken with their iPhones default settings of Quicktime Movie set at higher resolution than my TV. Download time alone..omg..I don't know how they put up with their upload time to JiRA.

I’m not sure who the email I replied to warning me of having reached my 500MB limit goes to you, or someone else. But as I mentioned there ain don’t know what they problem is, but it’s not the photos as I deleted them all and I went from 100% usage ton97%

Probably they are now in files trash.

I have raised the limit to 1GB.

...also, you can extent the storage space by adding external resources.

as I mentioned in that mail, I did clear trash after first WTFing that i went from 100% to 100% after deleting.

@Steffen K9 🐰 I looked at that the other day, I could be incorrect but it looked like it was expecting hardware on my machine, which seemed to defeat the whole purpose, no?

Yep. You can integrate an own storage like a NAS or an own storage server.
