Many of us are excited about giving up our freedoms in exchange for a society that looks a lot more like pre-reconstruction Alabama, as depicted in Gone with the Wind.

We love the idea that violence will be encouraged in racist police, women will be barefoot & pregnant, queers in camps, & the environment subject to the needs of billionaires, regardless of who starves or dies of thirst!

With so much to look forward to, why aren't you covering it?

I was starting to feel a bit better so I started a new stitching project but the last week of new neighbours & one of them being an extremely shouty male has me lacking in sleep & lacking in interest in it now. I might try a bit today just to keep going.

Are polar bears endangered?

Yes.

Most polar bear populations could become extinct by 2100 if our greenhouse gas emissions continue.

Polar bears are classed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. They hunt seals, their main food source, from the Arctic sea-ice. Human-caused global warming has led to a rapid loss of that ice, making it harder for polar bears to catch enough prey to survive.

There are 19 subpopulations of polar bears. According to the World Wildlife Fund in 2021, 3 were in decline, 4 were stable, 2 were increasing, and 10 were data-deficient.

In 1973, the international community agreed to restrict polar bear hunting, which helps explain why the population is estimated to be higher today than it was in the 1970s. However, that does not change their long-term endangerment if the sea ice they require to hunt is allowed to continue to melt.

Because misogyny is invisible. It’s never about all women, it’s always just about one particular, disagreeable woman who just happens to not be very likeable. Or competent. Who is loud or “shrill” or annoying or who got the job because she slept with a man. Or because she was a diversity hire. A woman who can’t even run her own house let alone a country. A woman who is “nasty”. A woman who isn’t and cannot be the strong leader a nation needs.”

Can someone who knows more about ActivityPub explain to me why it’s not possible to boost some posts from the timeline but can boost them if you open the post up? Is it something to do with the timeline not having all the information to determine if the post can be boosted until the full post is retrieved from the origin server?
