A group in the UK that I'm hugely interested in are Library Of Things.

At a very basic level, they offer products such as power tools for rental rather than ownership.

But it's a little bit more than that:

They have a very clear vision, which is centred around *everybody* in a neighbourhood having access to quality tools, toys and technologies, reducing waste, and also *repairing* tools rather than landfilling them and buying new ones.

On top of that: they run workshops on how to use the tools etc; this is not a profit-driven venture.

I don't think they're on Mastodon, so I'm going to take this opportunity, given everything I've been talking about this morning, to give them a little shout-out.

The U.S., on the other hand, has just one military headquarters and fewer kinds of tanks and planes. If European countries shared their military resources and worked together more, they might be stronger within NATO and less reliant on the U.S. So, the big question is: Should the EU team up for its own defense and foreign policies, maybe even start a European army?

I am new to Mastodon, so I cannot be taken so seriously; however, I ask myself if Mastodon could get money from ads, and use that money to hire more programmers.

Now comes something I believe, to use ads' money to hire sociologists and psychologists, aiming the promotion of necessary public debates - like the two current wars and other social issues - keeping positive and respectful debates.

I believe Mastodon will become the de-facto social network. We need money to make it happen.

Well...just got back from two rides this morning and went over 5,700 miles and now have only 400 to go to break my mileage record and then another thousand to get to the goal...the Budweiser Clydesdales are going to be here in Muskegon today and I'll probably go down and take a look and get some photos...and I'm going to test the sun sensitivity here in an hour or so and do the third ride...have the 50 sunscreen on but I think I'll go to 100 next week...leftovers today...good morning!

Well...darn...the Clydesdales were here yesterday and I missed it...oh, well...it was nice that the power outage only lasted about an hour yesterday when I really expected them to take a day or so...it must have just been a reset of the transformer in the alley...I did see the mama deer and her twins this morning and it appears they have moved to the shoreline of Muskegon Lake since I saw them there yesterday, too...and I saw my first Garter snake yesterday in the heat...pretty cool...
