One of the first things President Harris should work towards is the expansion of the SCOTUS, adding 4 more justices, bringing the total to 13. Without an expansion, we're looking at the possibility of 40 years of right-wing extremist control of the nation's highest court. Such an environment would regressively drag the nation backwards, and prevent the sort of meaningful progress we desperately need. Expansion is precedented, and reasonable given the expansion of the lower districts.

The biggest thing I learned from school as a child was that a big part of life is just a misery that you have to endure. Boundaries are decided by other people, and you don't even get to choose whether or not you sit next to the person who punches you in the arm all day. Some adults in charge of you care about you; some don't; it is random and needs to be assessed constantly. That doing more than expected or doing something amazing was irritating to everyone.

Took me decades to unlearn that.

Today, there were zero ads in my timeline. Zero. I counted 39 posts before I saw a "suggested follow" and no ads.

Surely their advertisers haven't left en masse. What gives? It's some kind of trick, I tell ya.

I just had a thought… not sure where you are in relation to cities with large teaching colleges, but if there are any… In NY I know the dental schools need live teeth, and want their students to hopefully learn well and get good results.
The kicker is, they’re not free (maybe some are if they can’t get patients), but it’s very low cost. Students/interns whatever but closely supervised, yada yada…

The last time I checked (which has been a while), the closest was in Gainesville (UF) and by the time I figured travel (for multiple appointments!) into the mix, the cost savings weren't that great. Certainly not enough to offset the hassle. At one point Mr. Stranger drove up there for somethingorother... it was a flop, but I don't remember why. We were neck deep in taking care of Dad at that point. Anywho the last time I called them, they sent me down a rabbit hole of referrals that were mostly low-income clinics, which of course we didn't qualify for (and I would not have wanted to take a chair from someone who needed it anyway). I finally did find a dentist who wasn't on crack (not really joking about that) and actually wanted to do dentist stuff (not joking about that either) and was compassionate.

We had great luck at UF with the dog, but we humans did not fare as well.
