Russian disinfo network “Matryoshka” is migrating to Bluesky

The Russian disinformation network “Matryoshka” has launched a new campaign on the Bluesky social network. Eliot Higgins, founder of the investigative journalism group Bellingcat, has been one of the first researchers to detect its activity. So far, four Russian-made fake videos have been identified on the platform.

The Insider and Bot Blocker reported on a similar campaign in which anti-Ukrainian narratives were presented as coming from professors affiliated with globally renowned institutions — including Harvard University and the University of Cambridge. The professors’ voices were replicated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools — a fact that was verified by the University of Bristol, which at The Insider’s request analyzed a video featuring Ronald Hutton, a prominent British historian and faculty member.

Et juleneg - and yes, it's a tradition, though I don't see many of them any more. Presumably most people who like birds have birdfeeders of all sorts in their garden, so the juleneg is less important.

But when I grew up my dad tied one to the flagpole each Christmas. (And after Christmas the carcass of the Christmas duck would be hung from an apple tree in the garden for the birds to pick at for a week or so - less pretty, but popular with the birds!)

The E sound is different. In Nej it’s more open mouth sound, like “ah” n-ah-j.

In Neg, it’s more wide in the mouth, like “eh”. N-eh-j … if that makes any sense?

I am attempting to set up a MIDI instrument¹ I own to "remap" the buttons to keyboard keys. I want note on/note off to correspond to pressing and depressing keys.

I have tried, with difficulty ( https://mastodon.social/@mcc/113691738296918607 ), two apps: "midikey2key", and UCR.

Neither was able to recognize input (any input) from the MIDI fighter. Both saw it, but they don't see Note messages.

If I use

*throws things* after fucking with this for about an hour, i get midikey2key working perfectly. i then discover i cannot use it with the application i want to use it with, because midi2key injects keyboard keys in some way that inhibits the normal "key repeat" behavior when a key is held, and that behavior is necessary for the application i want to use. since UCR doesn't seem to emit keyboard events, and i have about one hour left, i think i am stuck and there is literally nothing i can do
