now they just need to get the recharging stations in place
Indeed they do, but if I remember right, that's in the infrastructure bill that got passed earlier this year. They'll be along, but not just right now.

I wonder what batteries they are talking about that need to be replaced every three or four years. What I've been reading lately is that they can outlast the car. There's a guy in the UK who buys and sells used EVs. He got a Ranault Zoe in and checked the SOH, or state of health of the battery. In ten years and 100,000 miles, it had lost two percent !
Well, there's a new version of lithium that would outlast the car. I fully expect those aren't widely marketed yet. Depending on the year of the Zoe, the later the model the longer the battery can move the car. And was the SOH checked with a Renault checker or a 3rd party checker? Sometimes that makes a world of difference too.

Yeah. Don't know about the checker. I imagine he's got a good quality third party one, as he buys and sells a lot of cars.
Things are really progressing in the batteries. BYD in China makes their own, and their new ones are blade type. They pack more density, and they can be drilled or heated to red hot without burning. Tesla has just partnered with them so they can also use them. Probably the biggest leap is going to be solid state. They figure they'll be out in two or three years, although Mercedes is using them now in trucks in Europe.
Sounds like waiting things out for further developments is the thing to do.

Well, if nothing else, there'll be a ton of good used EVs to choose from.
