Power plant from a century quite removed from this one. That turbine isn't big enough to power much, and I'll bet the boiler burned coal. That's a helluva location for a flash tank.
That thing with the axle could easily be mistaken for the boiler feed pump if it wasn’t for its location. The question would be about those 4 tanks in the back–superheaters, or boiler pre-heaters? I’m now thinking pre-heaters because I don't think they were doing superheated steam that far back.
Not one bit of plastered asbestos insulation anywhere. Very primitive indeed.
Superheated steam would mandate asbestos/plaster insulation for sure, so yeah--I'm stronger of the opinion that those tanks back there are pre-heaters.
