I see now that the Republicans will be severely tempted to curtail aid. We are talking about amounts of money which will strain even the federal government’s available resources currently dedicated to disaster relief. And you know the Republicans always avoid dealing with difficult situations.

This crisis will hit very early in the new administration. We are about to see something strange – and terrible.

Insurance is not going to be adequate here...

We are going to need a massive tax resistance movement to emerge in the next few months.
If the government is not serving the interest of the governed (e.g., attaching strings to disaster aid to the most populous state, one of the few contributing more to the Union than is gets back), we have a fundamental right to reject that government (i.e. the 1787 Constitution) and try something new (as noted in the Declaration of Independence that enacted the United States into existence). (And that something new does not necessarily have to be anything like a nation-state or include the possibility of anything like a billionaire...)
