@laprice Yeah, I've read up on the USSR's collapse specifically to see what happens to 'regular' folks and it was NOT pretty. The poverty rate skyrocketed from 1.5% in 1991 to 49% in 1993. Life expectancy dropped from 64 to 57. Alcohol-related deaths rose 60% and deaths from diseases went up 100%. Thousands upon thousands died as direct result of USSR's collapse. I expect we'll see similar effects in the US; we should all be very scared.

A very small increase in cases of severe respiratory illness (from widespread flu, for example), overwhelms the US hospital system in days. For example, if we lose more ground on vaccination rates, typical flu seasons will see many more elderly and ill patients winding up in the ICU with a preventable disease. That will mean fewer beds and staff for cancer surgeries, trauma patients, people with heart attacks and strokes, etc..

The front brakes & rotors blew, battery was weak & it died too. I'm upset because I spent $1800 only 3 weeks ago for full checkup/tuneup & got oil/fluids changed too, in Victoria & was told the car was all good except that battery is old & needs to be replaced. Nothing about the brakes.

If you live in Colorado and haven’t had a flu shot in the last 6 months, it isn’t too late to get one. Influenza A is running rampant, causing a really bad cold that has a bonus nausea/vomiting/diarrhea feature. If you get the shot, you’re less likely to have symptoms or have severe symptoms. Don’t be the person who tells me “No, I guess I should have…” when I see you in the ER for flu and ask if you got your shot*.
