Surely “the Pushcart War” wouldn’t be published today, much less become a classic. It tells of an uprising by pushcart peddlers against the trucks, who are the economic “disruptors”, crowding the old-fashioned pushcarts out of business with gangster tactics. The peddlers respond not just with civil protest, but wholesale property damage and disruption, and they win.

It’s a very New York book, a very lefty book, and a very Jewish book.

A brown raffia crocheted bucket hat on a table with a few other items. It has a yellow third place ribbon on it My Flowers embroidery, which is made of hand-spun yarn showing two orbs (1 full, 2 halves) spaced evenly horizontally in a highly textured and colorful embroidery design. I have better descriptions in previous #FiberArts toots about this. It has a blue first place ribbon on it. This same piece got a blue ribbon at Maryland Sheep and Wool also.

The number of aviation accidents involving #Sukhoi #Superjet has more than doubled over the past two years, reports the specialized telegram channel Aviaincident. According to his calculations, in 2021 Superjets broke down at least 134 times, in 2022 - 181, in 2023 - 289 (compared to 2021, the increase was 115%).

Most often during the mentioned period, Superjet engines and landing gear broke down.

#Russia will trade less. The Central Bank predicts a fall in exports and imports this year.

In April, the Central Bank forecast import growth this year by 1-3% compared to 2023, and the change in exports will range from a decrease of 0.5% to an increase of 1.5%. Now the Central Bank expects that the reduction in exports will be from zero to 2% (minus 1.5 percentage points, p.p.), and imports - 1-3% (minus 4 p.p. compared to the previous version).

After Daria fled from her Russian-occupied village to western #Ukraine, she spent weeks restlessly wandering the streets. Whenever she grew tired of walking, she would sit on park benches and tell anyone who would listen — even perfect strangers — what the Russian soldiers did to her.

Daria said Russian soldiers raped her twice in March 2022 in #Havronshchyna — a small village about 30 miles from #Kyiv.
