Good on them! People have been so enamored with the gaming industry that they have opened themselves to being frequently walked all over by their employers. They thought this was going to be a dream job. I used to regularly warn my students about this.

Having worked in that industry for a bit, I also warn people to steer clear of it. Long hours and low pay are the norm, and many of those companies have a "frat boy" culture. Business software may be less interesting, but it does a lot better job of paying the bills without making one crazy.

PISCES FEET IN WATER
This is a large deep bowl with water in it where I soak both of my feet in the Summer.
It's by my computer desk - so I can type on my keyboard while my feet are soaking in cool water.
I can also add ice cubes, and a few drops of a pleasant essential oil to the water. I have Sea Salt from the Dead Sea in Israel which is very nice for feet.

Which scents? I currently have rose, vanilla, honesuckl, and pine. Pine scents were ubiquitous when I lived in the US. In Australia the smell is one of the few things that make me a little homesick. I miss the mountains and the forests.

@Muse I have a collection. The air in downtown Salt Lake City is like vehicle exhaust fumes and fossil fuel refineries. I have a very sensitive sense of smell. I can smell a werewolf a mile away. So, just a drop is fine. No pine, but I have Cedarwood, Lavender, Rose, Tea Tree, Peppermint, Citrus Blend, other blends. Lemon. Orange, Eucalyptus, Sandalwood, Magnolia.
Frankincense and Myrrh. I'm especially fond of Myrrh, but just a slight touch. Sometimes I boil cinnamon and cloves on the stove. It's a nice scent to have in my rooms - again to help dispel the smell of the city.
My favorites are always Rose, Lavender. and Eucalyptus.

Viele Leute beneiden die #Schweiz (zu recht) für ihre tollen #Eisenbahn⁣en, die das Rückgrat des ganzen öffentlichen Verkehrs bilden, aber wenige wissen etwas über das #Postauto, das regelmäßig von früh bis spät dorthin fährt, wo eben keine Schienen liegen.

Für mich ist ein solches Angebot in der Fläche (und alles ineinander getaktet) eine zentrale Voraussetzung dafür, auch abseits der Städte nicht auf das #Auto angewiesen zu sein.

An sowas denkt man in #Deutschland nicht einmal.

200K ist ein sehr gutes Gehalt.

Der Job ist nicht stressiger als eine hohe Leitungsposition im öffentlichen Dienst, die auch nicht besser vergütet wird.

Ich denke, wenn man die Vorstandsposten aus der 2. Management Ebene rekrutiert, kriegt man genug Bewerber.

Du bekommst dann eher Menschen, denen die Arbeit an sich etwas bedeutet, die etwas bewegen wollen.

Schlechter als mit der aktuellen Besetzung kann es kaum laufen.

PS: Falls du glaubst, ich wüsste nicht, wovon ich spräche. Vor meinem Burnout habe ich eine Weile in der Gehaltsklasse 200-250K (allerdings inklusive Bonus) gearbeitet.

Ich kenne die Menschen, die auf solchen Posten sitzen, sehr gut.

Ich würde es auch nicht machen, schlicht, weil ich nicht glaube, dass ich wirklich für Leitungspositionen geeignet bin. Ich bin zu impulsiv und zu leicht beeinflussbar.

Wäre das anders, würde mich die Aufgabe, die Bahn fit zu machen, wahnsinnig reizen. Geld und Bedingungen wären mir da egal.

Aber das ist ja das Problemen. Die Rahmenbedingungen. Da sind Mitarbeiter denen man nicht alles zumuten kann. Da ist Technik, die noch auf Jahrzehnte versagen wird. Und das Geld für Investitionen Fehlt.
Und bei den wirklich großen Entscheidungen reden Politiker mit.
Das ist ein Job für Leute, denen es nichts ausmacht Looser zu sein.

Schon, aber das ist keine andere Situation, als sie sich zig Leitungskadern in größeren und kleineren Firmen präsentiert und von denen verdienen die meisten sehr viel weniger und sie haben nicht einen Apparat von Hunderten Menschen, die ihnen zuarbeiten.

Wie gesagt: Ich könnte es nicht, mir fehlt die Eignung, aber ich kenne einige Personen, die es könnten und die es auch für das Geld täten, aber nie die Chance bekämen, weil sie nicht die Connections dafür haben.

Ich kann das nicht beurteilen, aber ich weiß, dass man seit mittlerweile 3 Jahrzehnten das Modell "hochbezahlter Vorstand + Verschleiß der Unternehmenssubstanz" fährt und die "Erfolge" nicht für eine Fortsetzung sprechen.

Die Politik gibt viel vor, aber ein guter Vorstandschef ist auch Politiker (ungegendert, da bisher alles Männer) und gibt ggf. auch dem Ministerium öffentlich kontra.

Wer das nicht kann, verdient schlicht kein Top-Gehalt.

Das Problem ist Value for Money.

Die miserable Leistung kann man wahrhaftig auch billiger haben.

Man sagt ja immer: Wer zu billig kauft, kauft zweimal.

Wahr ist aber auch: Der teure Markenpulli hält nicht unbedingt länger als der von der Eigenmarke des Kaufhauses.

Naja, ich war der Meinung dass der die Bahn in den Dreck reiten wird. Zu der Zeit hatte ich glaube ich tatsächlich schon einen Artikel über zwei Bahnstrecken (Regio) gelesen, eine in Deutschland, eine in der Schweiz, die beide im Stundentakt fuhren und halbvoll waren, in Deutschland hatten sie dann auf alle zwei Stunden gestrichen, danach waren die Züge leer, in der Schweiz auf 20min verdichtet und alles war plötzlich voll. Wenn man selbst ÖPNV nutzt, ist auch klar warum.

Then in the other direction I’m seeing lots of replies to Black women who call on various privileged groups to pull it together for Harris, but they’re doing the usual, “I maybe won’t vote for Harris because I don’t like your tone / you hurt my feelings,” and related reasoning. Just as divisive, and I’m pushing back against that, too, whenever I see it.

This is why it is so hard for the left to unite, and we’ve got to put that on pause for just a few months!

Seeing some stuff saying mutual aid is always more important than political donations. Here’s my thoughts:

1. If we get a landslide and maybe even control of the legislature, that means a mandate. And if we keep this energy up after the election, we can push for better social supports or maybe even UBI.

2. Donations aren’t mutually exclusive. I give mutual aid to individuals thoughout the year, and sometimes to causes.

3. I’ve seen the criticism that corporate donations decide everything. But do they have to? When a campaign gets tons of small donations, that causes shifts in media reporting, campaign energy, talking points, governing priorities, and gives an elected political capital towards for-the-people actions during their term. Which is exactly why I made two small donations to Harris’s campaign last weekend. Obama’s mass of small donors was all the talk of the media all 2008 and I still see it referenced. Small donations = INFLUENCE.

I'm arguing (professionally, in a book not directly about Trump, with receipts) that this is one of the reasons they're good at starting wars but bad at finishing them -- fascists (and their ilk) suck at relinquishing control, and the fog of war requires that relinquishing. There are larger lessons there. It's probably why his wealth has underperformed the market, for example

Krome Studios just released a new Blade Kitten trailer.

I don’t exactly know what for but it gives me hope that maybe we’ll see more Blade Kitten eventually. Maybe @spacecaptsteve will have news some day.

It’s interesting how this game was heavily criticized upon release but has grown to become a cult classic. I think there’s something to be said about the cell-shaded graphics and the fun and quirky main character.

Ich kenne Artikel von @samelou und was mir immer gefallen hat, ist, dass sie nicht nur klug ist und stets sauber argumentiert, sondern dass immer so viel Menschlichkeit und mit dem anderen Mitfühlen in jeder Zeile mitschwingt.
