People with guns are like bees with singers. Most are ok, but it's the one in the many thousands that will cause an avalanche of terror and chaos. And we have no licensing, insurance, or certification requirements.

I've been formally trained by law enforcement to maintain and operate firearms, but I do not own one because liability exceeds my need to have one. Unfortunately, we have way too many aggressive Barney Fife simpletons out there with guns

I know plenty of people who are aware of Mastodon but don't leave Twitter either because they either think it's complicated, or think others think it's complicated and it won't ever catch on.

I understand that concern when it comes to those who make their living on and through Twitter. But it does need to be made clear, making an account on a Mastodon instance doesn't make your Twitter account disappear into the ether. (yet.)

In my case, it was my dad's youngest brother. When I was a kid he was interesting and clever; he was an electronics engineer, and used to help me with physics homework. Then toward the end of his life he became a full-on extreme-right nut-job with all the faux-patriotic "lest we forget" crap, and it was so sad to me. His kids, my cousins, were infected with it as well, so I've lost them and their families as well. Sad.

You know how i *know* #CollectiveEconomicAction scares #capitalism more than violent uprisings do?
Because media never talks about it, but loves to hype the threat of violent overthrow.
Plus, violence is always profitable to the billionaires, and Strikes+Boycotts+Community deprives billionaires of what they need in order to stay On Top.
Seems obvious what we need is to boycott selectively first, then across the board once we dismantle the worst offenders.

#Poilievre is trying to make a mountain out of a decriminalization molehill. What he says is a secret plan to decriminalize hard drugs was posted onto an open government website, and only states that the Trudeau government will work with any jurisdiction that wants to use decriminalization to reduce opioid deaths in the area. It isn't a national plan at all. #CanPoli #CDNPoli

@crispius I think the part to 🙄 at isn't the decriminalization side, it's the idea that this is a "secret plan" that Trudeau is going to "force" on the country.

This is (at least) the second time this year that the cons have run the "secret Liberal plans" script, and rather than explaining every time how gov't works, the response needs to be making fun of them for being fools.
