Verautbarungsjournalismus (unkritische Übernahme der Worthülsen, welche die Politik produziert) ist ja viel einfacher.

@populistensohn Das halte ich für zu kurz gedacht. Die Artikel schreiben individuelle Journalist*innen und nicht die Kontakte der Programchef*innen, Rundfunkräte oder Shareholder. Klar gibt es eine Blattlinie - am deutlichsten wird das ja bei Springer - aber ich vermute, dass hier weniger eine höhere Absicht dahintersteckt.

Es ist klar, dass in vielen privaten Medien eine klare Linie durchgegeben wird.

In den Öffentlich-Rechtlichen wie der @tagesschau gibt es allerdings, denke ich, eine Kultur der Pseudo-Objektivität, welche die Redaktionen dazu bringt, eben nicht ihrem journalistischen Auftrag nachzukommen, Menschen tatsächlich zu informieren, sondern schlicht zu reproduzieren, was die Politik vorgibt.

Für mich ist das Mangel an Berufsethos.

I remember once standing in the Dead Sea. I think I was about fourteen years old. It was so warm and it made my skin very soft! Some people were bathing in it. I hadn't brought a swimsuit on this trip, which is why I was wading. They looked like they were floating on top of the water rather than in the water, because of all the salt and minerals buoying them up!

We’ve been told that money represents wealth, with power as a sort of side-benefit of having it. We’ve been told that wealth is comprised of the real things that money represents. Money is a stand-in for these objects that are worth something for their usefulness or desirability. The barter analogy is often used to make this connection.

But that’s not true. In our system, money is a direct representation of power, w the tangible items it brings as a side benefit. Each $ is a unit of power, & the more you have, the more power you have.

There are other forms of power in competition with, or exchangeable for, money. Labor is one of these—also things like status, fame, authority, force, & manipulation.

Examples: When someone has enough money to hire you, they have the power to control a large portion of your time. That’s power, not wealth. When you have enough money to exchange for food, that’s the power to eat, not the wealth of ownership of food.

This guise that money is wealth is obscuring more effective ways of thinking and talking about power. Money is a shiny bauble tossed across the room for us to squabble over. A distraction. The levers of power are pulled with or without money. Money is an invention. It can be infinite. It’s a plastic Monopoly piece as a stand in for “I can obtain what I want; I can make you do what I want.”

Whenever you think of money, replace it with “unit of power.” Unit of control one person has over reality or another person. Even the money in your own bank account. Even credit. From the spare change up to the billions. Watch the world shift on its axis.
