@MissGayle They offered some substantial policies to help people, but their rhetoric and framing was that of typical, inauthentic politicians. Leaning into populism would help them more, in my opinion.
For example, the DNC should've had commercials w/ health ins execs around a table talking smack about cancer patients & stamping DENIED in red letters on their forms, saying "No medical care for this schmuck, I want to buy a villa on the Mediterranean." They laugh.

The voice-over says: "Meet the real death panels," - a slideshow of health ins execs & their annual compensation packages appears on the screen.

Strong opposition to Medicare for All from insurance industry

An organization called Partnership for America’s Health Care Future, whose members include pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and private hospitals, has been running an online advertising campaign aimed at undermining support of Medicare for All, the colloquial term for a single-payer health platform that is popular among some Democrats, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Collaboration among industries to oppose health care reform efforts isn’t new, but collective opposition to Medicare for All appears especially strong, according to a March 7, 2019 Center for Responsive Politics article.

John McDonough, professor of the practice of public health at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, who helped craft the Affordable Care Act (ACA), said that he heard from industry lobbyists every day as he worked on the bill. He noted that the final version of the ACA included many concessions to industry players, but noted that negotiations around Medicare for All could prove to be much more difficult, especially due to opposition from insurance companies.

Just in case people don’t fully grasp it. The pardoning of insurrectionists is Trump’s way of building loyalty from militias and domestic terrorists to carry out unofficial acts for him

Seems like a mask ban would be unconstitutional. Are they going to ban surgeons from wearing them, too?

People voted for Trump to raise prices. In his first hours, Trump rescinded Biden's rules that delivered lower prices for medications to those on #medicare and #medicaid. On day one, Trump is delivering higher prices. Yet, I don't see much outcry from Conservatives. It's almost as if this wasn't ever about inflation or prices.

I'm not gonna lie, I think all the maudlin hand-wringing about political violence, injured murderpigs, and "eroding democracy" in a rigged oligarchy owned and operated by rich fascists regardless of which party they claim to support, is a bit much. Despite their borderline fanatical adherence to polite fictions however, the media *is* correct in pointing out that Trump's January 6th pardons are a very ominous sign; they just lack either the language, or the courage to properly explain why.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/jan-6-pardons

'Rewarding Political Violence,' Felon Trump Pardons Jan. 6 Insurrectionists

"This move not only erases accountability for one of the darkest days in our nation's history but also emboldens far-right extremists and grants them free license to continue their ideological reign of terror."

"These are not patriots, these are traitors who will now be free to recruit others into what Trump views as his own personal militia," he asserted. "By granting clemency to these individuals, who sought to overturn the peaceful transfer of power, Trump is signaling that political violence and the rejection of democratic norms are acceptable tactics in service to his authoritarian agenda. This is a direct threat to the foundations of our democracy and the safety of our communities."

Although it's not properly taught in Pig Empire history class, the reality is that every single "successful" fascist movement in history has relied on the violence of "irregulars" or "Brownshirts" to maintain control and further a fascist political and social agenda that is invariably unpopular and would be resisted by the populace at large, without the threat of force to keep them in line. It's literally "how to install a fascist dictatorship 101." What Trump is doing here is making it 100% clear to fascists that the ruling party is totally fine with whatever violent crimes they commit as long as they serve the purposes of the larger American fascist movement. And he's not the only one; racialized fascist violence has already received strong support and similar pardons in places like Texas, New York, and even at one point California (although that was ultimately unsuccessful and cost a judge his position on the bench.)

If you want Brownshirts, this is how you create them; and for all the whining about a democracy that isn't real and murderpigs who side with the nazis the vast majority of the time, that's the real danger here. Letting 1,500 fascist rioters go for their part in a coup attempt isn't about the rule of law - it's an open signal that Trump WANTS these freaks to commit violence on his behalf, and will prevent the American police state from doing anything about that if necessary. This doesn't end here.

It's also worth noting that the media at large didn't seem to think it through. Their utter lack of preparedness for all the very predictable moves is nothing short but stunning. I mean - really? They're surprised? Shocked? How? They *literally* enabled this and even pushed for it! Gosh! /o\
This entry was edited (21 hours ago)
Yeah, agree wholeheartedly. The entire media and political establishment clearly DIDN'T actually believe Trump was a fascist, their actions since demonstrate that much. The problem is as much as they were using the term fascist as "just politics," the reality is that he IS a fascist and his administration IS fascist.

I been bitching about this forever. It's not just that the liberal establishment is useless for fighting fascism, but that their nonsense is an ACTIVE IMPEDIMENT to fighting fascism because they clearly DO NOT take it seriously and that encourages everyday people to not take it seriously either.

I mean look at this shit:
