Good to see coverage of the PSP but that article has a rather click-baity title and a lack of understanding of orbital mechanics.

There is another way, which I demoed to a student a few weeks ago. I learned it from my supervisor. It is similar to the 4th step, reproduction, and you use it only if you are certain you want to understand the development in the paper and build on it.

You skip all the fluffy bits like informal explanations, introduction, intuition etc, and only look at the maths, and try to build your own intuition, and use the non technical bits only if you're completely lost.

Yes, this is reading a paper in hard mode, and for pieces of good research, all you're doing is reproducing the work with even less help from the authors. But you're also doing it without the biases of the authors, and form your own opinions.
