So Hay’at Tahrir al Sham leader Ahmed al Sharaa (aka Mohammed Jolani) told a Turkish newspaper that Syria would develop a strategic relationship with Turkey going forward. “This victory is not only the victory of the Syrian people but also of the Turkish people,” he said.
This comes a few days after he stated that they do not intend on fighting Israel as they expand their settlements in occupied Syrian territory and destroy Syrias military infrastructure. This week al Sharaa also was in a photo with two Turkish-backed SNA leaders in Damascus: Abu Amsha (Suleiman Shah Bridge) and Abu Bakir (Hamza Division).
A few years ago there were popular protests demanding that Abu Amsha be held accountable for participation in murders, rapes, torture, and kidnapping. He got away due to his close ties to Turkish intelligence (MIT) who went as far as to threaten to cut off funding for the SNA's al-Jabha al-Shamiya faction due to their support of the protests. Also commander Mounir Khalil, who took part in several 2015 massacres in Homs such as al A'miriya and Palmyra, which killed more than 400 civilians.
Also this week, Sharaa/Jolani has appointed two Ahrar al Sham leaders, one current and one former, into positions of power. Ahrar al Sham leader Amir al Sheik appointed as Governor of Countryside of Damascus and former Ahrar al Sham leader Hassan Suffan appointed as Governor of Lattakia. There is a lot of information about ahrar al sham online too that’s easy to find.
A political spokesman, Obaida Arnaout, answered some questions to a reporter about what a new constitution under the leadership of the transitional government would look like recently. Upon being asked if women will have Ministerial representation, he stated that it is an issue for legal and constitutional specialists to decide and shamefully, that women should partake in roles that suit her "being and biological nature.” When asked about women being Judges and in security, military, law-realted roles? He said women have the right to study and teach any discipline, but regarding jurisdiction, this is for specialists to "assess.” He asserts that the biological nature and mental state of women doesn't for example allow them to hold a weapon or be present in spaces that go against their nature. When asked if they would implement gender segregation in education, he said that Syrian universities have great aspects/ behaviours but which need reinforcement and that they believe their separation is best. Regarding tourist sites and more liberal spaces like coastal Tartus and Latakia and women already having the freedom to wear whatever they want, he smiled and said “everything has a solution.”
Andererseits wäre weniger Schrott und so Sachen wie Starlink schon besser.
