I have a camping trip starting next Sunday, so I have a bit of a deadline for this job...

So, one nice thing about pessimism is that when one is proven wrong, it's usually a pleasant surprise

This went better than I anticipated: a cut for the eight foot length of the panel, and cross-cuts between the joists. The lines of small staples tell us where those pesky joists are

Saw blade depth was set to 3/4", though the obvious cut lines in the insulation on the right tell me that my deck lock has slipped a bit. If I cut deeper than the subfloor, I'm gonna cut the joist a bit, and I want to minimize that

As I was making my final cut, I knelt on the cut pieces and found it was easy to break the glue; though doing it with my foot and standing got me a surprisingly loud crack that had me worried that I had split the joist

After the glue joint is broken, a little prying with a flat bar remove the chunk of wood quite readily

If one or two of the adult children donated a couple of hours to this task while I was at work tomorrow, we'd have the replacement sub-floor going in on Thursday

Removal of the old subfloor is complete, thanks to my youngest

Today is sanding down the glue off the joists, placing the full sheet panels then cutting and fitting cross-beams to go under the seams between panels

These won't be structural, so I'm going to use 2x4s instead of 2x6s, and hopefully we'll be done with the subfloor by tomorrow, as Sunday starts our summer vacay

Only a little sanding happened yesterday due to life interruptions

Anyway, here's a picture of the joists, with glue and particle board attached

The two full sheets are squeezed in place, and screwed down, and my capable assistant is putting the 2x4s in to cover the cross seam

A little more sanding to do before the partial sheets go in, but that's fairly quick; it's the chiseling in the corners that's a real pain

One hole to accommodate the heating duct, but the duct extension is pretty rough, so I'm going to try to get a replacement

Oh, someone suggested that I have a hashtag for this kind of stuff, so I'm going to go with #DelDoesAThing

So, vacation got in the way, but I have a subfloor, and pretty close to getting flooring down.

Prepping to start installing the new laminate flooring

The kitchen area was done in the winter of 22-23, and the final planks were cut off at the border between the kitchen and dining room

So, I've begun to remove the cut planks, and I am prepping the starting area with leveling compound, as necessary

The hardest part of all this is that I am trying to work in the highest traffic area of the house, and everyone is here...
