No wonder much of the work is outsourced to vulnerable communities in the global south.

Lake Shore Drive is a trash dumpsterfire that separates the city too much from its lakefront I'm so tired of these transit designers having their heads shoved so far up the tail pipe of the car industry that they refuse to envision anything else.

Lake Shore Drive should be downsized and replaced with a basic surface boulevard that allows for slower-speed scenic driving but is mainly tailored to easy pedestrian traversal and dedicated public transit lanes/a streetcar system. If you need a highway to commute through the city, maybe take one of the five other expressways they built that destroyed half the city.

As for the south side where it's actually a crucial artery, maybe, I dunno, build the dang Gold Line.
