I really wish people would stop making multi-part forms where I need to fill in required feeds to see all the questions. Especially when they validate them so I need to put in valid fake data.

I just want to see all the questions being asked so I know if it's going to require me having to go hunt down some random fucking document / see if I fail some eligibility requirement before I fill it in.

I was very cynical about GOV.UK when it started in about 2011 cos its predecessor directgov.uk was horrific, but I was pleasantly surprised. There was top-level support and while it's petered out a bit now and some departments like the tax department avoided improvements (they're bastards), 90% of government departments were forced into the new accessible regime.

They had people who believed in it, researched, listened, improved & promoted it.

Pure speculation, but have not seen any definitive updates on the damage in Jasper, but yesterday they cleared all fire crews without SCBA -- ie all wildland crews pulled -- and any structure defense would also require light/air support and typically hundreds of firefighters for a single structure fire... that could not have lasted very long. Apparently 200-300 ft flames on the front per CBC reporting, which is grim. Damage (in my opinion) could be quite catastrophic. #Jasper #wildfire #JasperNationalPark

It’ll be a tough recovery for Jasper. Once a WUI fire transitions to an urban conflagration with building to building ignition (like Maui) IC needs to make difficult decisions. Crews in structural gear need to switch air bottles and rehab every 30-45 min. It might be OK to lose 20 -100 houses if they save critical infrastructure. All communities need to do better mitigating structure ignitability.

I wonder about many things. One is the percentage of plastic our bodies can contain before some key organ--heart, brain, or lungs for example--stops working.

Not just us, of course. Everything in the biosphere is undergoing plastification. You'd think companies killing their customers might have second thoughts, but apparently not.

Future alien visitors will find bones imbedded in layers of plastic and wonder what strange religious beliefs led to our odd entombment.
