First time designing something for JLC's assembly service (and first time designing for third party assembly in many years).

I had a habit of trying to use resistor packs (multiple resistors in one package) where possible to save per-part placement charges.

Not only does JLC not seem to have placement charges (only per-pin), they don't have many resistor packs in their Basic parts list so you would pay significantly more money this way than for individual resistors!

Your bio says you like science, how about history? I ask because in college I has an economics professor who really really was into economics. You know how some Christians have memorized the bible and can quote a verse for any situation? This guy would quote a historical situation for every economics complaint. It constantly amazed me but it really helped at perspective to the subject.

The thing is, every imbalance you and I experience has been experienced multiple times in the past by multiple societies who tried various strategies for fixing it. By looking at those strategies and how they turned out, it helps you understand that money and "power" were at one time inseparable but that science of government was born out of splitting those two apart. From communism (COMPLETELY) apart, to various hybrids in between.

It is, historically, not the billionaires that are the problem, some are good, some are bad, just like kings. It is shielding them from government oversight that leads to lots of abuse and inequities. Piketty talks a bit about this in his book. We have, pretty much from Reagan forward, failed to activate the regulation needed to manage the inequities.

Not making excuses for the billionaires, there are lots of them and by and large "most" of them are harmless. But we do need to address the harmful ones, and one of the interesting thing has been how Democrats have been doing that (taxing income over $400K/year for example). Which is, in my opinion, why we are dealing with so much squealing from them.

They don’t just get their way, they buy their way and we have no response unless we organize to purchase SC Justices fancy vacations. They manipulate the tax system among other things. We could change our capitalist driven society to make money less overwhelming in our decision making, but they stand in our way, don’t they?
