I just wanted to share this still of a Yassin 105 point blank in front of a Merkava tank. Yassin 105 is a Gaza made RPG, costs around 500 $ to make and it's used to destroy or incapacitate the IOF's 4 million $ Merkava tanks (and other armoured vehicles). You can call that weapon good value for money.

No evidence in the video that the munition penetrated the tank's armor and other protective systems. Israel has something like 600 of the Mark IV and thousands of earlier variants. Hamas is not going to run Israel out of tanks with RPG clones and IEDs. .

I beg to differ on this one. If you incapacitate a Merkava tank, it's not like taking a car to the garage for repairs. Takes months. The IOF is reported to be short of tanks, not short of money, but tanks and DC9 armoured bulldozers, that they need for demolishing roads and buildings, like they do all over Gaza. Caterpillar cannot make them fast enough for the IOF. There are hundreds of resistance operations. Al Jazeera Arabic and Jon Elmer on X have them.

Yeah, I've seen the reports. Yet, it hasn't stopped them from damaging or destroying 2/3rds or more of all the buildings in the Gaza strip and there is only ONE confirmed MKIV destroyed in the whole conflict and it was destroyed by a buried IED, which was likely a converted dud American mk82 or mk84 bomb.

Again I beg to differ. Qassam and Saraya al Quds brigades have caused a lot of damage. The terrain and urban warfare know how is on their side. Of course the IOF is not going to own up. The level of military censorship in Israel is off the scale. Israelis don't get told either. And the mainstream media are rubbish. Some of the outlets get their stories vetted by Tel Aviv first (NY Times is one).
Jon Elmer reports are better value than the NY Times, try those, won't hurt.

The proof is in the pudding. Hamas can lean out from behind the edge of building and fire off an RPG all they want, so long as there is a still a wall left standing, but there is an ever smaller number of sheltering buildings from which to fight in Gaza and we've seen precisely one of Israel's latest MBTs get destroyed. Maybe they blow off some reactive armor, destroy some optics, etc, but Hamas is not out there killing tank crews left and right.

it's so funny to see how little the Israeli reservists know about urban combat. They hang out of windows and get regularly sniped. There are some hilarious takes.. And they rarely leave their armoured vehicle cos they know they are fuk'd as soon as they come out. One thing Qassam won't do is shoot at the evac vehicles/copters. It's a religious thing.

I expose myself to a wide variety of news sources, including many that are propagandist in nature. I've seen many Hamas attack videos. They usually end at the boom or cut to somebody picking up some scrap of metal afterwards. I've seen very little evidence that Hamas is having anything like success in penetrating the armor of MBTs and killing their crews. There are whole channels that do nothing but talk about tank crap who pour over this stuff.

I'm not sure what you're trying to convince me of, firstly. The idea that Hamas will repulse Israel from the Gaza strip through force of arms is laughable at this point. In deaths alone, Israel is probably trading at 25:1 rates with Hamas fighters and non-lethal Israeli casualties get treated to a standard than Hamas can't come close to matching. They can exact a price for continued Israeli presence in the strip, but it isn't much of one.

I just don't see a future where some guerrilla style urban war against the IOF results in such a steep loss in Israeli operational capacities that they are forced into leaving for reasons having to do with manpower, lack of equipment or munitions. More than 300 of those were basically incurred during the October 7 attack.

On the flip side, you've got 45k+ Palestinians officially dead and a much higher wounded/casualty ratio.

Hamas may not have great difficulties finding volunteers to run at a tank with an RPG round in hand after what Israel has done to them, but such actions are simply not militarily effectual at this point.

Netanyahu has not achieved his goal of defeating Hamas.
Similarly, he hasn't achieved his goal of defeating Hezbollah, invading South Lebanon and returning settlers to the Northern occupied territory.
Hamas may not win the war but their presence and resistance is preventing Netanyahu from winning his war. This is critically important.
Btw, a number of Qassam videos end with vehicles being towed away and evac helicopters rescuing the wounded. That's always a result IMO

Note that many Merkavas HAVE been knocked out by homegrown munitions in Gaza.

In this case, the hull's frontal armor but the turret's side armor faces the shooter. Just right of the center of the turret as presented here is where I would aim at this close range unless the balls and chains defending the "shot trap" between the turret and hull are missing.

A shot at a track will easily stop the tank in place, and sooner or later the crew then has to get out under fire.
