The latest beta of the Relatica mobile and desktop Friendica client (v0.14.0) has just been released. This was a major architectural refactoring behind the scenes and a huge step towards 1.0 status. A lot of inconsistency type bugs should be squashed by it. That will bear out as it is used by real users, however. The notes below on fixes captures those identified during initial testing. This release will probably require a little more shakeout than previous ones since almost every panel of the app is affected by the refactoring change and all the data handling, syncing, etc. in the backend was affected. It is in review in the Apple Testflight for iOS and macOS as well as in the Google Play beta system. Downloads for Android, Linux, and Windows are on the install page of the main project. After a weeks-long, horrid experience with Dell, trying to return a pair of headphones I bought on my "Preferred Customer" account, I finally tagged @ Michael and the Executive something-or-other "reached out" to me.

It took 15 more e-mails, a continuous conversation with three stellar "associates" in Hyderabad at all hours, and I still had to wait "7 to 10 days" for my account to be credited, *after a payment was due on the returned mech.

Dell had the *nerve to send me a "How'd we do? We'd really like your feedback" e-mail once every 5 days until I mailed a screenshot of one to @ Michael only and told him his company was broken.

@TheEddieShow I got a Foodsaver vacuum sealer in October that doesn’t hold the vacuum and seal. My bags lose the vacuum within days but the seal is still there. I couldn’t make the Foodsaver submit form work in 6 tries. I called and got a prepaid FedEx label to return for a replacement. After 2 weeks no word, called again and customer service says “Oh! We’ll get that out right away!”! New email tracking says 5-7 days. Meanwhile 3 email and text requests to rate their service. Grrr.

The world suffered incredibly under Napoleon and Hitler, but survived Napoleon and Hitler thanks largely to *outside* intervention, not because of internal insurrection in Napoleonic France or Nazi Germany.

Many of us Americans will engage in acts of resistance, but it's clear that the majority of us, just like the people of France and Germany under those earlier tyrants, are not currently capable of responsible self-governance. I honestly no longer believe we can save ourselves, because too many of us don't want to be saved.

Q: Who will save us, as the British and Americans once saved Germany and France? Can Americans hope, eventually, for a new Wellington, a new Eisenhower? Or are we truly on our own?
