This is a step in the right direction. #3dPrinting filament changing and tool changing is too complex and wasteful. Adding colour to the filament on the bed eliminates so many stupid complexities in the system.

I'm not sure this particular system, which is built on years-old 3d printers and with proprietary ink cartridges is right, but conceptually this is the correct trajectory.

It is an interesting step. Comparing the saturation of the Multi-material prints vs the inkjet prints is not great but you can't do "pictures" with MMU systems either.

A hot end mixing white and black filament to give you a variable 'K' element and tanks to inject cyan, magenta, and yellow as needed would be an interesting take too. Binding the ink to the plastic is always going to be tough.

@ChuckMcManis I’m guessing the lack of saturation has something to do with the ink being meant for paper rather than plastic (and he admits that he’s using the wrong base filament). There are very reliable dyes for some plastics that might be a better fit than an “ink”.

I also wonder if other 2d printing tech might be a better fit. Dye sub?

It’s been a rough week for Jasper, he became very sick last weekend and spent most of the week in the hospital. Old age & kidney issues catching up to him (he’s 15). But they were able to get his levels back down close to normal and he is now back home with his humans (& those stinkin’ dogs), has his warm comfy blanket, a good appetite & is drinking water. Thankful. Here he’s getting some outside time in the nice weather (under supervision).

Well...up and running at 6am this morning and I made my first pot of coffee with the bag of beans that I ran through my new grinder...very nice coffee but I think I'll keep them for a treat...after all, I bought a 45 ounce can of ground coffee this week that needs to be used....I still can't believe I bought 150 bucks worth of stuff that I wanted instead of needed this week...and that went against how I do things...but damn, the Fiskars shrub shears are just gorgeous...good morning!

This Fall I bought things I never dreamed I’d have. And some are really nice, like I always hoped to have but never had the money for. It occurred to me if I am the one doing 98% of the cooking, at 73 by ghods I should have nice things. Especially great kitchenware! I got myself a stovetop percolator a few months ago because I missed the aroma through the home. And I sure do need good, rich coffee these days.

Hi...yeah, I agree with the good cookware...when my daughter sold her summer home, she brought me all of the cookware, cutlery, glasses and some tools I didn't even know I needed...had never had a food processor or nice cutting boards until she gave them to me...and that stuff replaced 25 year old pots and pans so now I have non stick Cuisinart stainless steel...another luxury...hope you have a nice day!

Gaspode

Gaspode is described as a small, bow-legged and wiry terrier-like dog, 'basically grey (in colour) with patches of brown, white and black in outlying areas'. He is featured in seven of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels.
